Dr. Ronald Frey

Dr. Frey is a duly registered psychologist in the Province of Ontario. A clinical and forensic psychologist, Dr. Frey has over 20 years of experience in forensic and clinical assessments, operational and systemic risk investigation and management. Organizationally, he helps manage employee and employer-related human factor risks before those risks manage them.

Assessor Background & Experience

A former member of the Canadian Armed Forces and former Acting Chief Psychologist for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Dr. Frey’s insights and services have been in demand across a wide spectrum of sectors. His contributions have been recognized by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada, the Senate of Canada, the Canadian Police College, and numerous National Security branches of Public Safety Canada. Furthermore, his expertise has benefited the entertainment industry, law enforcement, insurers, and multiple national and international operators in the pipeline, aviation, rail, and marine sectors.

In addition to maintaining a busy counselling practice, Dr. Frey actively participates as a member of the Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators Industry Partnerships Committee and has significantly contributed as the co-founder of The Institute for Interpersonal and as the co-author of “Feeling Better,” published by New World Library.

Assessor Education

Dr. Frey’s educational credentials are impressive and diverse. He received his CMLE (ON) Certification in Medicolegal Expertise by the Canadian Academy of Psychologists in Disability Assessment and the Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators in Toronto, Ontario, in 2023. He also holds a C-CAT (MB) Certification from the Canadian Academy of Psychologists in Disability Assessment, with clinical skills training conducted by the Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators in Toronto, Ontario, in both 2018 and 2024.

His expertise in risk management is also supported by his completion of a course in Risk Management: Principles and Practices at the Sprott School of Business, Carleton University, in 2014. Dr. Frey’s foundational knowledge in his field comes from his Ph.D. and M.A. degrees from the University of Toronto, achieved in 1997, preceded by an H.Ba in Psychology and Music from Brock University in 1992.
