Dr. Sara Mitchell, Neurologist

Dr. Mitchell’s Experience
Dr. Mitchell is a practicing academic Staff Neurologist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. She completed five years of neurology residency at the University of Toronto and subsequently obtained subspecialty fellowship training from Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in cognitive and behavioural neurology and neuropsychiatry.
Dr. Mitchell has a busy academic clinical practice with a focus on concussion, cognitive impairment, neurodegenerative diseases, and other neuropsychiatric conditions.
Dr. Mitchell is very active in research and clinical teaching and has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications in journals including JAMA Neurology and the Canadian Medical Association Journal on topics including:
- motor vehicle collisions
- cognitive impairment
She has been featured on CBC national television as a subject matter expert on concussion, brain health, stroke, dementia, and Parkinson’s disease. Dr. Mitchell has a master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) from the Harvard School of Public Health and a defined interest in improving the quality of medical care delivery.
